The ministry of Music and Arts at Church of the Lakes is devoted to enhancing the praise and worship of our Lord, to glorifying Him as King, and to edifying the Body of Christ. It is the desire of this ministry to invite His people to “come and worship” through various avenues: song, instrument, theater and banners. Its crucial function is to unite God’s people by teaching each one the importance and validity of praise and worship of the Lord through the individual and corporate life of the church. The goal of the music and arts ministry is to train, equip and encourage each other to seek the Lord on a daily basis, praising and thanking Him for what He has done, and worshiping Him for who He is.
We invite you to consider the many opportunities in this ministry:
CHOIR - An adult vocal group comprised of those who feel called to express themselves in song for the “building up” of the congregation during the worship services. This group also participates in music concerts and dinner theaters. The Choir rehearses each Wednesday evening.
DRAMA MINISTRY - This group is comprised of children, youth and adults of all ages who enjoy drama and acting, comedy and dramatic plays, theater and other stage productions. This would also include narration, monologues, etc. Stage crew and technical production people are also a part of this ministry (i.e. stagehands, carpenters, costumers, makeup artists, etc.)
BANNER MINISTRY - This ministry is dedicated to worshiping the Lord through an effective visual means. Much prayer, thought and time is devoted to designing and making these banners for use in the church sanctuary and for processionals. This ministry includes designers, seamstresses, and crafters who work on the banners from the idea stage to completion.
SOUND MINISTRY - The sound ministry includes those who desire to work with the audio engineer for all worship and/or church related services, including concerts, etc. It is helpful to have a working knowledge of audio and sound equipment.
LIGHTING MINISTRY - The lighting ministry includes those who desire to work in setting up and running the lights for special services or concerts. This would also include working a spotlight when needed.
PROJECTION SYSTEM - This ministry is used during worship services to project the announcements, words of the songs for praise and worship as required. A simple working knowledge of computers is helpful, but not needed. Also used in this ministry are videos to enhance concerts or special meetings.
