 Living Water for your Thirsty Soul!The source of joy for every person is the gospel of God's love in Jesus Christ and the new life which opens to those who receive the offer of salvation! To constantly renew the radiance of our faith we must daily draw from the well of salvation that "water of life" which is the gift of God's love in Christ.
There is in the Bible the tradition of women laughing when they came to the wells to draw water. Their joy was a reflection of their gratitude to God for His many blessings. Isaiah (12:3-6) is a Psalm of thanksgiving reflecting the joyous singing, the result of drawing water from the spring, "whose life-giving water was a mark and symbol of Yahweh's saving power and deliverance." This "attitude of gratitude" is reflected in the Christian life by a new and exceeding great joy, and a new song in our heart which overflows as a life of praise! This truth can be seen by Jesus' encounter with the woman at the well in John 4:10. When Jesus asked the woman for a drink, he replied, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you "living water." He later responded to her question, "Where can you get this water?" "Everyone who drinks this water [from the well] will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a Spring of Water welling up to eternal life.
